Bulu partners with Konaly on Kilimanjaro, an Afrobeats jam named after the continent’s highest mountain.
Kilimanjaro is an artful blend of soothing lyrics delivered on slow-rockin ‘beats. With wordplay such as “many many things try to kill a man” and other one-liners, the song comes off as a quasi-poetic reflection on the struggles and becoming of an individual.
Born and raised in the slums of Lagos in South West Nigeria, Bulu’s love for music dates back to his childhood. Though he refused to join the choir, he always had a playlist that inspired him. But it wasn’t until the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 that he decided to start making music for commercial consumption.
Committed to making conscious music, Bulu aims to create a new alternative genre and house/jersey music. Bulu did a freestyle, Ungrateful, in 2022. He released singles, Wahala Poju, Airplane Mode and Three Amala in 2023, which positioned him for further musical adventure.
Konaly’s musical journey started from the streets of Ebute Metta which brought authenticity and soul into his music. A rising talent with a heart for Afro-fusion, rap and drill, he gets inspired by the eclectic soundscape of Burna Boy.
During the pandemic, Konaly sought solace in music, creating music infused with messages of hope, dreams and a reflection of his personal struggles. With his nuanced approach to music, he empathizes and connects seamlessly with the souls of listeners, creating for them relatable experiences.
As a homage to the roots, Konaly’s refers to his fans as “skiii” family, which is a recognition of the importance of skiii to his life journey and identity.
