Step into the vibrant essence of Lagos with the “Ẹ̀kó Carnival“ collection by Aderinola Odugbesan-Thomas, also known as Derin from Ìsàlẹ̀ Ẹ̀kó.
Designed by Derin for her brand Ìsàlẹ̀ Ẹ̀kó from Derin, this collection draws inspiration from the bustling streets of Lagos, fondly known as Ìsàlẹ̀ Ẹ̀kó, and pays homage to its rich heritage and vibrant energy.
Each piece tells a story, blending intricate details with a contemporary twist. Since its release, the collection has gained remarkable traction, with fashion enthusiasts and style connoisseurs praising its timeless beauty. In a recent interview, Creative Director Derin shared the heartfelt story behind the collection:
My mom had some hand-me-down Aso Oke fabric, but I knew I would never wear them as they were. I decided to recreate them into beautiful designs that I can not only wear but also pass down to the next generation and share with others.
This thoughtful reimagining of tradition makes the Ẹ̀kó Carnival Collection so special. It’s not just clothing—it’s a celebration of heritage, a nod to modern elegance, and a legacy in the making. This fashion film by Ibidunni Damilola says it best, hit the ▶ button below to watch:
